2012 Schedule of Events
Before the Events
Join the racers as they prepare their sculptures for the brake and equipment test.Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Boat launch ramps behind the Four Points Sheraton Hotel off Harbor Blvd. Turn right on Schooner Drive. Park in the Special Events area or the dirt parking lot by the launch ramps. Do not park in the boat launch area.
Harbor Water Race
Launch of kinetic sculptures into the harbor. The sculptures will be propelled down the channel towards the docks in front of the restaurants in the Harbor Village. Racers will go to a designated dock to pick up an object to prove they reached the dock. They then will turn around and head back toward the harbor entrance.Time: 10:22 AM
Location: Boat launch ramps behind the Four Points Sheraton Hotel
Best viewed at: Harbor Cove Beach ("Mother's Beach") behind The Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center
Sand Challenge
Sculptures will race on the sand from Harbor Cove Beach ("Mother's Beach") to Surfer's Knoll, cross Spinnaker Drive, and park on the Village Main Lawn.Time: 12:00 PM
Location: Harbor Cove Beach and Surfer's Knoll
Best viewed at: Harbor Cove Beach
Lunch Break
Fresh seafood, Mexican, Italian, Greek, Sushi, American, French and BBQ dishes will be available for lunch at the Ventura Harbor Village.Time: 1:00 PM
Location: On the Village Main Lawn where the sculptures will be displayed
Road Race
Racers will enter the parking lot executing an oval race course around the lot's islands. A figure 8 will be negotiated with sculptures trying to avoid collisions at the cross-over point.Time: 2:00 PM
Location: Harbor Village parking lot by grassy area
Best viewed at: Grass area by mud pit
Mud Challenge
Sculptures will enter the mud pit and try to traverse it.Time: 2:30 PM (when the first sculpture finishes the oval race course)
Location: Large grass area opposite Blackbeard's BBQ
Best viewed at: parking lot road and grass area by mud pit

Meet the racers and see the sculptures up close.Time: 3:00 PM
